Getting to Know Our Fan of the Week

The more we meet our fans, the more we stand amazed. Each of them hail from different backgrounds and have their own individual take on social media. It's a great mix and thank you for staying connected.

This week, let's say hello to Kasturi Banerjee Mukhopadhyay- a loyal follower with the highest points on our Facebook page.

A singer, meditation instructor and a homemaker, Kasturi knows her away around social media and is quite vocal about her thoughts. Something we truly appreciate.

So is she active on social media? Well, she likes to blog and enjoys being on Facebook and Twitter. Usually online in the afternoons, Kasturi loves the fact that all the latest news, interesting anecdotes, etc. find space on social networks first. In her words, "Mobile networks fail you when you need it the most, but you'll always know what's happening in other parts of the country and the world on Facebook." She also sights the example of the recent earthquake tremors that were felt in Chennai. While cellphones were jammed and the cable was out, she could send and receive messages through social networking sites.

So does she have any fun idea that ought to be incorporated on Facebook or Twitter? "Perhaps background music of one's own choice. It would be a nice addition," she opines.

And what does she have to say about TheSocialPeople? "The posts are really interesting and on diverse topics. It's easy to understand and informative as well. I wish the team all the best. Keep it up!"

Thanks Kasturi! Stay connected!

Getting to Know Our Fan of the Week

Greetings fellow followers! And say hello to Anil Jangra our loyal fan of the week with the highest points so far!

Uncomplicated, intelligent and fun-loving, Anil admittedly spends a good part of his day on Facebook.

“I use LinkdIn only to maintain a professional network, since you’re often recommended by people over this site. And since Twitter is great for viral networking, I use it to post interesting topics I come across. But Facebook is what I use to stay in touch with my friends,” says Anil, cleverly categorizing his use of the social media as per his needs.

A regular non-fussy bloke, Anil is a big fan of the popular Angry Birds app and finds Google Latitude quite useful.  Fun cartoons, pictures, one-liners, our fan quite enjoys his daily dose of chuckle over Facebook.

And what does he think about TheSocialPeople? "TheSocialPeople is a place where you find plenty of amazing little bits of information. The posts are useful and it’s a great place to pick up pointers to fully enjoy the social media sphere," he says.

Thanks Anil and do stay tuned for more!

Getting to Know Our Fan of the Week

Hello world, meet Kaustubh Bhake our witty Fan of the Week!

An Electronics and Telecommunications Engineer from Nagpur, studying at SIBM Bangalore and pursuing Marketing as his area of specialization (phew!), Kaustubh isn’t as serious as these labels suggest.

The man likes his regular dose of theatre, street plays included. And when he is not working or answering questions for a certain Fan of the Week post, Kaustubh loves to groove to rock music or lives up to his serious image by watching documentaries.

So how active is he on social media? Kaustubh prefers Facebook and maintains an on and off relationship with LinkedIn. “Facebook gives you almost everything that you want,” says Kaustubh, “You can interact with friends, share views, and news about your latest travels and of course know what everyone else is up to.” LinkedIn he admits is just for professional reasons and he still hasn’t quite bothered much about it.

Being a student he pretty much lives online. At least two hours a day, is what he says. And he can’t help but notice the growing number of people today who access Facebook through their cellphones.

So does this marketing and theatre enthusiast have any interesting idea he’d love for a social networking site to incorporate? Kaustubh would like to see if a site can play music via the radio while we search and surf. Erm, kinda like the background score you need while driving. And it would be interesting, he says, if we could have super entrance themes when we enter a community just like WWE!

Is Facebook listening?

The rock lover in him can’t do without the Tune Wiki App, which plays songs from his playlist and automatically find the lyrics for the same over the internet. And then of course, there’s a app to stay updated on the news.

Kaustubh can’t help but notice how connected people are to their social network. “When earthquake tremors were felt in some parts of India last week, Facebook got the first whiff!  Weird na?” he says.
And what does he think about TheSocialPeople? Of course, he really loves it. Especially the posts on Facebook that he finds both informative and funny. The people, too, he thinks are quite talented. *humbly bow*

“All my hearty best wishes to team TSP,” he signs off. And best wishes to you too!
